JPIC Synod GKI report that on 23 April Papuan human rights activist Yones Douw was intimidated by police as he was going about his work monitoring the security situation at the local electoral commission. Mr Douw states that threats and intimidation against human rights defenders in Nabire are on the increase.
On 2 April, TAPOL's call to demonstrate for the release of West Papuan political prisoners was answered around the world when demonstrators in at least eight cities protested against the detention of 76 Papuan political prisoners.
On 2 April 2014, TAPOL will hold a demonstration outside the Indonesian embassy in London to protest the ongoing detention of over 70 political prisoners[1] in West Papua and to call for their immediate and unconditional release.

Papuan women's network TIKI has written a direct and challenging letter to the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) on behalf of the indigenous women of Papua. TIKi criticises the visit of the MSG delegation, reminding the MSG of the original aim of the visit and questioning whether it has met this aim.
